A seat beside the Great Gatsby actor on Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic space flight attracted the huge bid at amfAR's annual gala and auction at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

A second pair of tickets on the same flight sold for $1.8-million, according to E! Online.
Seats on similar flights – which Branson hopes will begin to launch from New Mexico by the end of 2013 – usually sell for around $200 000.
Another package that included two tickets to the premiere and afterparty of DiCaprio's upcoming Wolf on Wall Street and an Oscar weekend that includes a room at the Beverly Hills Hotel, a Chopard watch, tickets to the Weinstein party, entrance to Elton John's annual viewing bash and Vanity Fair's legendary Oscars soiree with Heidi Klum sold for $2.3-million, E! News reported.
Also sold at auction was The Pianist star Adrien Brody's Bulgari watch - which he was wearing - that went for $116 000.
A portion of the proceeds from the auction will go toward the AmFAR Cinema Against AIDS charity.
