Leonardo DiCaprio's Wildlife Foundation Cashes In $38m After Star-Studded Charity Event

Leonardo DiCaprio's charity event for his foundation 11th Hour was a roaring success as some of the richest people in the world bid on priceless art to fund for endangered species on Monday night.

The bearded Titanic star hosted the event in aid of protecting species that are dying out in the world, with guests including Tobey Maguire, Bradley Cooper and Salma Hayek bidding on artwork from the likes of Banksy and Urs Fischer.
The 38-year-old actor has not been one to keep quiet about his passion for charity and the well-being of the planet, having produced his own documentary about his foundation which was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007.

Overall, the event stacked up a cool $38 million in fundraising that will go towards building conservation for wildlife, as according to NY Daily News, Leo announced: “Our goal here tonight is very simple. The funds raised will directly go to support innovative conservation projects on land and in our oceans.”
Many pieces of the artwork up for auction were estimated far less than what they took in the end, with a Banksy piece titled “Protect From All Elements” cashed in at three times more than the estimated figure of $100,000.
Billionaire businessman Stewart Rahr hushed the bustling room of celebrities and billionaires alike when he made a first bid on a photograph of a tiger named Leo for $1 million.
Leo must have expressed his gratitude to Rahr on their joint flight over to the 66th Cannes Film Festival, as the pair flew over together after the event.
