Nigeria: Amokachi to Be Affected in NFFs Costs Cutting Spree

Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Daniel Amokachi, will be offered a substantial pay cut by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as the federation bids to cut costs and trim the size of its staff.
Key members of the Sper Eagles back up staff, including assistant coaches, Sylvanus Okpala and Valerie Houandinou recently lost their jobs in view of the policy.
After Nigeria's victory at the Africa Cup of Nations in February, the "Glasshouse" halved the size of the technical staff because of the high cost of running its programme.
We scooped from reliable sources at the federation Monday night that while former international, Amokachi, will retain his post as Stephen Keshi's main assistant, he will lose about 34 percent of his monthly earning as salary cut.

The former Besiktas of Turkey striker is on a N3million monthly pay. However, when the measure takes effect, he will be left with a salary slightly over N2million.
The new pay regime is a going to be a take it or leave it offer for Amokachi.
Goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorounmu, will not be affected as the federation considers his N1.5million monthly salary as affordable and not to be reviewed.
The present outlook at the NFF is still enveloped in uncertainty as the federation has expressed its readiness to streamline many non essential jobs down the line at the secretariat.
During a meeting with federation officials last week, Keshi made a futile effort to redeem Okpala and Houandinou by making it clear that they would be instrumental to the success of the team in the FIFA 2014 World Cup campaign and the Confederations Cup which holds next month in Brazil.
But while the NFF refused to yield ground, Keshi has offered to 'employ' Houandinou who is from Togo, in view of their long standing relationship.
