The multi-talented Coppola, who cast Hilton as herself in this summer’s teen heist flick The Bling Ring, photographed the 32-year-old at home for Elle and spoke of her adoration for the celebutante.
“[Paris is] such a pop icon and has a sense of humor about herself. I think she was the first to really make herself into a brand,” glows Coppola. “She’s so dedicated to her style.” (Sounds like someone wishes Paris Hilton’s My New BFF was still airing.)
But just what is Paris Hilton’s style, you ask? Coppola’s photos depict her Beverly Hills habitat as a shrine to herself/a fully-functioning puppy mill. There’s a pink ‘Paris’ surfboard for when Paris Hilton wants to hop in her beach buggy and hang ten, brah, at least four small dogs I can hear yipping from my computer screen, and a plethora of Paris-themed pillows (including those nightmare-inducing Paris Hilton head pillows, as seen in The Bling Ring). “If nothing else,” says Coppola, “when people see [The Bling Ring], they will want a Paris pillow. We might have to make those.”
Hilton, clad in Simone Rocha, Valentino, and some heart-shaped sunglasses, also had some insight to share with Elle. When asked what lesson she hopes viewers take away from her biggest fan’s film, Hilton replied, “There’s much more to life than all of these possessions and everything. And if you want those things, you’re going to have to work yourself, just like I did.” Our favorite part, though, is when she’s asked what she would say to her burglars if confronted with them. “I’m not a confrontational person,” she said. “But I would literally be like, ‘You guys need serious help. And I want my stuff back.’” You tell ‘em Paris.
