Jolie flaunts dress at Pitt's movie premiere on her bday

Angelina Jolie looked stunning and sexy in a white strapless dress at the Berlin premiere of her fiance Brad Pitt's 'World War Z' on June 4, 2013, her 38th birthday.
In the silk crepe dress, custom made by European design house Ralph 'n' Russo, the star made sure that all eyes were on her and her longtime love, whose all-black ensemble offered a nice contrast to her bright look
The 'Original Sin' star's costume featured a peplum waist, rose-gold detailing, and tiny round buttons down the back.
Her long, brunette hair was curled into soft waves, and she beamed as she posed next to Pitt, 49, on the red carpet.
The Berlin premiere was Jolie's third official appearance after her double mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery.

Angelina Jolie illustrates the virtues of celebrity power

The media response to Angelina Jolie's announcement about having had a double mastectomy illustrated yet again the power of celebrity.
mir Her picture was very predictably on every national newspaper front page in Britain (though not in the United States, and not even on page one of the New York Times on the day it ran her op-ed article about the operation).
This says something about the difference between British and American journalism. (Discuss). It also raises the question of whether celebrity power is merely a media construct, and therefore foisted on the public, or whether the public responds to it positively without the need of prompting. (Discuss also).
What cannot be in any doubt is that serious matters often achieve a widespread public reaction when celebrities get involved.

Angelina Jolie Cuts Off Breasts Due To Cancer Fears

Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie said on Tuesday that she had undergone a preventive double mastectomy after finding out she had a gene mutation that leads to a sharply higher risk of both breast and ovarian cancer.
Jolie, writing in the New York Times, said her mother’s death from cancer at 56 and the discovery that she carried the BRCA1 gene mutation led to her decision out of fears she might not be around for her six children.
