The incident took place in the ancient city’s popular textile market, Sheka.
The attack came following the arrest of a suspected militant on Thursday. He was said to have disclosed the plot to rob the market by his fellow gang and as a result led the security agents to their hideout.
JTF spokesman in Kano, Captain Ikediche Iweha who conducted reporters round the area also paraded five women and three children that were rescued during the operation.
According to him, “This morning operation was a product of intelligence report obtained from a suspect we apprehended yesterday that, voluntarily confessed of a plot to violently attack Kanti Kwari textile market for money to bankroll an impending operations in Yobe.
The recovered items from the operation include 2 AK-47 rifles, 150 ammunitions, some explosives and five magazines.
Meanwhile, the marked building had since been demolished by the military bulldozer, while search has begun by the security operatives to apprehend the property owner.
